BROADWAY ARMCHAIR
GAETANO PESCE FOR BERNINI c.1993
Designed in 1993 by Gaetano Pesce, the broadway chair challenges the notion of uniformity in industrial design. Each resin piece is unique and painterly, this example featuring a striking split seat design which balance a dark green against a bright red.
“The springs on the feet are to give a sense of insecurity, there is insecurity in our reality, we see it in violence, there is economic insecurity, there is insecurity in our health... when you sit you do not feel secure that is like the reality of life.” (Gaetano Pesce)
